Mayday

May 2nd, 2008

As of 5:00 pm last evening, Tim is done with his second semester!  He has approximately 3.5 days before his next semester starts up again and we will be celebrating by planting our vegetables if the rain ever stops.

Its also graduation weekend here, so lots of traffic, crowds and moving vans.  And once again, it seems strange to be back here.

I was also able to see Barack Obama on Wednesday speaking to a crowd of 14,000 at Assembly Hall.  It was moving, fun and hopefully historic.  In case you live under a rock, Indiana’s primary is on Tuesday.  Don’t forget to vote!

Thinking

April 16th, 2008

Things I think about: food, coffee, being passionate about my work, quilts, fabric, Loki, Tim, classes, going back to school, work, work, work, am I eating enough fruit, going to the farmer’s market, Web 2.0, interns, photography, SPEA, The Commission for Sustainability, recycling, living green, whether I can see the New Pornographers in concert, being a good person, travel, friends, organic food, allergies, natural leave-in conditioner, exercise, switching to gmail, having a baby someday, paint colors, books, The Clash, religion, gardening, health care, family, whether I should get new highlights, crosswords, publicity, and politics.

In no particular order, and not meant to be inclusive or exclusive.

Campus Visit

September 16th, 2007

Saturday was one of the most beautiful days, and we spent it walking off our great lunch at Roots touring around campus. Seeing the sights brings back a lot of memories for me, mostly good. I’m still not exactly sure why I came from Denver to here to go to school as a freshman 14 years ago when I could have really gone anywhere. Even when people ask about it, I don’t really have a good answer. But it was the right decision.

I miss The Den, but am happy. That’s what counts, right? Though ask me again once the fierce cold sets in.

Study Buddy

September 15th, 2007

Tim is getting some studying in before Brad and Sarah drive down from Indy for a Saturday afternoon lunch (probably at Roots). Loki loves to hang out while Tim is reading, often laying on the backpack.

I bought Tim a fancy-pants new messenger bag when he was accepted to grad school, but it turns out it isn’t big enough and is sort of hard to handle on the bike. So he has been using my old army backpack I used in high school! Gina and Jen are sure to remember. I’ll get a good photo of it sometime.

My parents are off to Greece today…wishing them happy and safe travels!

Magnets

January 19th, 2003

I am right in the middle of a four day weekend, and despite the (relative) cold weather, it has been truly wonderful. It is a treat to be able to run some errands on a weekday late-morning when no one else is out and about. I finally got some new eye glasses. I know my old ones must have been old because they are so much heavier than my new ones.

This weekend we have also been working on a few wedding details…not too much but at least something to cross off the list. We did go to a bridal fair earlier this month (Tim was happy that we didn’t stay very long). We got a few ideas concerning photographers and djs, and a lead on a bakery for a cake. Of course we need to do more “official tasting” of the cake that we liked the best before we officially decide. My next focus though is my dress. I am doing dress homework (sheath vs. a-line?) and will be ready to shop when my mom comes in town in February.

Tim and I are lifetme IU alumni members, and have recently attended some events with the San Antonio Club including a basketball game at one of our favorite bars and a reception with the IUB Chancellor and Alumni President. It is fun to watch a game with other IU fans, everyone showed up at the bar with their IU shirts on (including us!). Tim has been recruited to possibly work on the San Antonio Club website…it is a new alumni club because it just split with Austin to form two clubs. At the reception, I was recruited to volunteer at some college fairs in this area at an IU table. I said I would love to. It took me awhile to really feel that I liked Indiana, but I guess that at some point I did become a IU fan!

Misc Notes: Tim and I rented About a Boy this weekend, pretty good. I am reading the Alchemist, a gift from a great friend…but such a quick read. I will have to dig around for something new after tonight when I finish it. Tim and I are both suffering mild cedar allergies, which should be fading soon. Loki is great, so big. He has taught himself to open cabinet doors and drawers and then climb in. As much as I want to be proud…we are not sure if this is something he will (hopefully) grow out of.

Have a great week!

xoxo,

Hoosiers

March 31st, 2002

Okay, this is going to be short. Tim and I are going IU crazy! We so wish that we still were in Bloomington to join in the festivities. We are relying on Brad and Dan to experience the wild Kirkwood madness and relay the news back to us. So far, we heard was that Dan did some crowd surfing outside Nicks! Hahaha. In addition to watching all the IU games, Tim and I went to the Women’s Final Four games and the final game (where UCONN won) here in San Antonio courtesy of Abby. It was really fun, and I will elaborate (with pictures even!) early this week. So stay tuned.

Go Hoosiers!

We are working on the guestbook for now, so you can read it but not post to it right now! Sorry. I will let you all know when it is back up and running.

Madness, March Madness

March 19th, 2002

I have it a little bit. Tim has it a lot. For the first time ever I have filled out a
href=”http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney02/bracket” target=”_blank”> NCAA tournament bracket thingy. I think that
I have even picked more winners than Tim (so far)! But of course the big IU game is coming up on Thursday against Duke. Tim is
hopeful. Since I filled out the bracket thing (what is it called? Just a Bracket? That’s it?) without knowing very much,
he has to fill out an Oscar ballot! But I think that he will draw the line at watching the Pre-Oscar red carpet event. But I am so there.

In Turtle News…Sunday Tim and I went looking about for a turtle to add to our aquatic animal collection. None to be found
yet. The reason that Petsmart doesn’t sell small ones is because of a lawsuit. Apparently some mother bought a very small
turtle for her 2 year old son. The baby while playing with said turtle (I mean, how could he resist? They are sooo
cute and cuddly) decided (as 2 year olds are want to do) pop it in his mouth, swallow it down and die of salmonella. So the
mom sued Petsmart and they are no longer allowed to sell small turtles. Pretty sad, but it is preventing my getting a turtle!

In other random news…I have done some other shopping for you spring birthday havers (you know who you are). I am
also waiting for a skirt to go onsale at Banana Republic so I can buy it. Tim has been summoned for jury duty. He goes
April 1st and I am teasing him that he will be picked and have to serve on a jury. Before we left Bloomington, our friend from SLIS, Dawn had to serve
on a jury that concerned an incident at Nightmoves (yes, that one). And there were even pictures in evidence. Hee! Tim
thinks that he won’t be picked. I finally finished

target=”_blank”>A Beautiful Mind and it was really good and I would recommend it. And to those people who are doing
that smear campaign against the movie and Nash, shut up. You sound like idiots. Now I am going to look and see if there are any classes or seminars about buying a house. Apparently just sitting around waiting for someone to knock on our door with keys to our dream home (and believe me, Tim and I each have our OWN visions of what dream home means, which keeps it interesting) with keys is not happening. Eh [with shrug]

I want to wish a hearty get well to Cyn…who had to have emergency appendicitis last week! Tim and I wish you a good recovery.
