The Snowy Day

Filed in San Antonio

Tired of non stop new coverage of the weather, Tim and I put on some music and play Scrabble last night. We were both originally scheduled to work at noon today, but we both got calls this morning that our work places were closed all day! Which is probably a good thing as most of the highways in town were closed.

We woke up this morning to a proper ice storm and went outside to take some pictures (both on my flickr and in the gallery). I haven’t seen an ice storm like this since about my senior year in college! It does make things very pretty, though I probably wouldn’t be thinking that if we didn’t have power like many in our area.

Since I’ve been a slacker recently and had the bonus snow day today, I worked on some quilts. I completely finished the top to Ashley’s queen sized block of the month quilt and once we have a day where we can open the windows, I will start quilting (I use a spray adhesive to temporarily glue the layers together and it is smelly).
And since I had my machine out…I made the above block for Thien’s block of the month quilt. This is the one applique block that every quilt has. Applique isn’t my favorite, but I am happy with how this turned out.
