You may have notices that Tim was busy and put up all of our Colorado pictures already! We had so much fun and enjoyed a relaxing week of beautiful weather with family. We trekked downtown twice, once with the family to shop at REI and the LoDo Tattered Cover, and once just the two of us to check out Larimer Square and the 16th street Mall which brings back funny junior high memories for me. We even made it up to the capitol building, and found the three markers identifying which step is a mile high. Apparently it took them three tries to get it right. With the fam we caught a winning Rockies game and had a Labor Day party. Andrew showed me how to golf (really) and took Tim and I to a driving range. Andrew is good, and Tim has some power, but I thought it was hard! On my list though is to get out at least once more to the driving range across the street. Oh, and we were silly sore the next day. Andrew also accompanied Tim and I to drive up the Red Rocks Amphitheater which is really beautiful and cool. There were lots of people up there and they were getting the stage ready for a concert that night. We reminiced about concerts we had been to, and those we hadn’t. With Mom in tow, Andrew, Tim and I went to the zoo and saw the giraffes, emus, baby gorillas, polar bears and the penguins who caught the glare spot from Tim’s camera on the back of their rocks, and hysterically followed the glare spot back and forth, very loyally. It was too funny and everyone was laughing. It was funny but I was worried that we could get busted for “harassing” the penguins. After Andrew went back to work, Mom and Dad took us up to Boulder (so pretty and fun) and to Estes Park where we spent one night and toured Rocky Mountain National Park. We got to see lots and lots of elk, a few deer and three coyotes which was really cool. RMNP is one of my favorite places in Colorado, and this trip reminded me again how beautiful and amazing the mountains really are.
The weekend after we got back from Colorado, Tim jetted to Austin to take in the Austin City Limits Music Festival where he met up with Brad. They had a great time, though it was really hot for most of the weekend, saw some cool bands and got to see Austin for the first time.
I am doing some more sewing with my cool new Pfaff Expressions 2034 sewing machine. It really does make it easier than the old one, and looking forward to taking a class later this month to teach me how to use all the new features that I’m not used to. Working away a little bit at the list…and of course, reading. Am afraid that The Good Earth might be too depressing to finish, I am really hoping that it picks up and doesn’t pull a House of Sand and Fog on me. Speaking of, my book list is a blog entry if you missed it…check it out. Make some recommendations! Saw Hero in CO with mom and Tim…really good. I loved it and highly recommend it, but I think I will have to see it twice to work out all the details. Fun and interesting. Speaking of fun and interesting movies, we met another couple out on Friday night to see Garden State. Wow. Probably one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. If you haven’t seen it yet, go now.
