Vacation all I ever wanted…

In under the wire for an entry for August! As you may have noticed, Tim has completely redesigned the look of this website lately and worked hard at getting it just right. And lots of new pictures are up! Some pictures from this spring, and lots of photos from when we were in New York City over July 4th.

I turned 29 this August, and have mixed feelings about being almost 30. Tim and I had a relaxed birthday weekend that included dinner at a French restaurant and ice cream cake! Tim, his parents, my parents, and Andrew surprised me by getting me a gift certificate for a new sewing machine! They didn’t want to pick one out for me, so Tim printed out a great card saying that I could go shopping for one. So exciting. I have tried a few different brands, but have a few more places to check out as well. The sewing machine I use now is a pretty old model that was my grandma’s. The grandmother aged woman who helped me at one store said that she wouldn’t consider using any sewing machine that wasnt’ computerized. I am apparently totally out of date when it comes to sewing machines…but not for too much longer!

Also got a chance early in August to head out to Indy to visit with some college friends. As always, we had a great time. Mark has a cute Craftsman style house in Broad Ripple area of Indy and we all stayed with him. Got a chance to visit Bloomington, and took a boat out on Lake Lamp or something which was beautiful. Don’t forget: lifejacket diapers, playing Acropolis, walking into Briscoe, Mark being a super star at Mancino’s, Tina’s Late night changing numbers, P.O.T. money, the fire extinguisher, visiting Yogi’s where the only thing that is the same is the foosball table, the ghetto grill in the front yard, ducks on Sunday, the random girl who took the circle picture, being grossed out at 612, totally not cheating at pool, Old School, singing on the porch, IU tatoos, IU tshirts, Suzy’s scary phone eyes, appts to tour the plant, “You’re my Boy Blue!”, “Haven’t you ever met me before?”, the Trafalger DQ, seeing Quinn, the Shutta-Newman drink mix-off, 1…2…3…Not it!, and being generally ghetto fab in the Caddy. It is so fun to laugh with old friends.

SG Book club is on temp hiatus until we decide on our next books or until one of us picks up Middlesex. I am listening to Reading Lolita in Tehran, which I have enjoyed parts of, but seems like a good deal could be cut out of the middle that doesn’t really have much to do with the students reading lit at the author’s apartment. Reading Strapless by Deborah Davis, and really enjoying it. It is about the painting Madame X by John Singer Sargent who is one of my favorite artists, or portraitist. Very interesting, and I learned last night reading it that The Picture of Dorian Gray is not very loosly based on JSS painting Dr. Pozzi, a gynecologist which surprised me. But then I have never read Dorian Gray, so that is possibly something else to add to the list. Grrr…too many books to read. And it is hard to read daily when you are semi addicted to the Olympics, and trying to find time to ride my bike even though it is like 105 degrees out.

I will check in again after labor day probably. xoxo
