Easter Eggs

Filed in food, friends, holidays

I am v. sleepy. Everybody complains that
href=”http://www.oscar.com” target=”_blank”> The Oscars are too long. It is not the length that I mind so much…but the fact that they go so late. And I don’t even live in the Eastern time zone! My suggestion? They should start late morning. You know, make it a day time event. Then they could break for a dinner at 7 or so and still get in a night of dancing and drinking and I could be fresh for Monday at work (since, you see, I will not be invited to the events afterward and can just turn off my tv). Wouldn’t that be great, or does proposing a daytime Oscars event not a cool thing to do? Why do I care enough to stay up anyway, even though I called it quits mid-Berry speech? Good question. But I was productive during the pre-Oscar Red Carpet show (yeah, I’ll admit to watching it) and even during the show itself. I made Easter cookies! Bunnies and Easter Eggs (not real eggs, Suzy. Sugar cookies in the shape of Easter Eggs). It took a bit longer than planned because it was so hot that my dough was all…well…doughy. Not good for the cookie cutters. But they came out great and I even frosted them all fancy. But I don’t have a pastry bag, so I was at the mercy of plastic bags that I snipped (sometimes too big or sometimes two holes), but I guess that made them more interesting.

The rest of the weekend was taken up by watching college basketball, which for us really started on Thursday. Tim and I had to go to a sports bar to watch the Duke/IU game because our local CBS coverage was showing the OLKA game. It seemed early on like it was going to be depressing, and most of the other people there watching that game were rooting for Duke (including this really annoying man behind me who ordered every appetizer on the menu and sent about 1/2 of them back because they didn’t look good. Or whatever.) But as you can imangine as the bar filled up, and
href=”http://www.indiana.edu/~athlweb/graphic/sports/m-bkball.html” target=”_blank”>IU was doing better, we (and a few other people) were going wild. Jumping up and down. Crazy. We also watched the Kent State game, but only went crazy in the privacy of our own home.

In additional news, Cynthia seems to be recovering from her appendectomy. All she complains about is being sleepy. Since she links to mine, I thought here I would also link to another friend’s website.
href=”http://www.home.earthlink.net/~oliverrw/index.htm” target=”_blank”> Regina and I worked together at ICPAC and laughed at each other so much that our supervisor banned us from working together again. Also I notice that when I write I use a lot of parentheses (is this bad?)…so my goal for next week? None. That’s right. No parentheses. Tune in Monday for how it turns out.

xoxo.
