Static Electricity

Posted under books, San Antonio Comments Off

Welcome back to yet another chronicle of our lives here in San Antonio. It is Sunday night yet again and it is COLD here! Some of that cold that everyone else had this weekend even made it all the way down here. I know I won’t get much sympathy…but think about it in context…if you are used to 60s or 70s in winter…what? Am I losing you? Eh…it is supposed to warm back up this week.

Tim has been working on changing the face of sarah’s tim…so you will see it change soon, if not by the time you read this. And as I mentioned in some minor changes in the About section, we are thinking of creating a logo that will remain the same while the rest of sarah’s tim goes through some revisions, because there is just no stopping him and even this new version won’t be the last. Any suggestions?

This weekend was mostly relaxing. Much of my time is taken up by reading A Beautiful Mind . It is pretty dense and very well researched. The author even expains a lot of the math stuff that he was working on, the game theories and something about manifolds. These are explained in the book by example. Picture yourself as being very tiny. Now imangine how you would perceive the space around you if you were sitting on a gigantic doughnut. You wouldn’t know it was a doughnut, because of the space perspective. You would probably just think that it was a flat plane. You’re tiny. Then I think of Homer Simpson going “Mmmmm…doooughnuts”. Hee! Okay, anyway if you know me even a little bit, you know that math is not my strong point. I probably could not do basic algebra or geometry today. I shudder when I think about the geometry class I took in 9th grade with Mr. Swenson…[shiver]ahhhhaahuh. But I am trying to understand, and they are expained well and it is very interesting. However, I am also afflicted with another problem. I can be easily distracted by things. Look! Father of the Bride PART TWO is on! The hell?

In order to not be reduced to unthinking post-college folk, Tim and I try to continue exercising our brains by playing Scrabble every now and then. We are even National Scrabble Association members (thanks mom) which means that we get a newsletter and have the Official Scrabble word book, which comes in handy. Very very handy (wink, wink).

One thing that I can not stop is the possibility of our becoming suburbanite yuppies. Tim and I have sort of started looking around for houses. TO BUY. Can you believe it? We haven’t talked to anyone yet (a realtor or mortage person) but started scoping some neighborhoods and doing some initial research about how to get started. And while I don’t think that anything will happen too quickly, the ball has started to roll. Tim’s parents have beaten us to a punch and already sold their home in Flordia and are building a brand spankin’ new one nearby. I am jealous, but very excited for them. Thanks for sending the pictures David!

Okay, like I said these things take me longer to write than you would think. I’ve taken some flack for using the expressing “y’all”. It is enevitable. I can only respond by asking if you’ve tried it? What can I say? Its fun to say (y’all)!

See you next week!
